THIS POSITION HAS AN END DATE OF 7/31/18.
***Position Summary:***
With specific direction and supervision, performs routine and non-routine office duties requiring general secretarial or word processing skills and proficiency. May concentrate on secretarial or word processing duties in a particular discipline using specialized and complicated terminology or word processing language, abbreviations and symbols.
***Typical Duties:***
Receives, opens, scans and routes incoming mail for information or response.
Types and transcribes dictation. Types from drafts, handwritten copy, records and other sources.
Occasionally composes and types non-routine correspondence and documents for approval and signature.
May collect records, set up and type standard and specialized department reports, forms and documents.
May perform department receptionist duties in addition to secretarial and word processing duties.
As a specialized secretary, types from voice recorders and handwritten notes/drafts a considerable amount of reports, documents, histories, summaries and records using specialized and complicated terminology, vocabulary, abbreviations and symbols.
Maintains general office filing systems, and may set up and maintain specialized files.
Orders and monitors office materials and supplies.
Performs other related general secretarial and word processing duties.
**Qualifications**:
Completion of high school plus 2 years of post high school education, preferably in secretarial studies or the equivalent. No experience with required education background or 2 years of practical secretarial, word processing or office experience after completion of high school. The ability to type from draft or recorded dictation accurately at 55 words per minute. The ability to operate standard office machines and word processing equipment. Ability to take dictation and to operate word processing equipment desirable, but not required. OR - a combination of formal training and experience equivalent to the above
