Description
Main Function:

o The Office Coordinator will provide administrative leadership for the Thompson Family Practice through interaction and coordination with Practice Management

o The Office Coordinator plays a vital role in assuring whole patient care is made available to each patient through referrals and continuation of care, appointments and services.

o The Office Coordinator facilitates monthly office staff meetings, making PCMH a standing item. Meeting minutes will be taken and filed in the PCMH folder in the Practice Management H: drive

o The Office Coordinator will assist in the coordination of staff coverage for PTO assuring that PTO for all staff members is properly entered in the Practice Management PTO Calendar.

o In addition, the Office Coordinator provides full secretarial support for the Thompson Family Practice in the form of telephone response, patient scheduling, verifying eligibility and making referrals, as well as understanding, interpreting and applying multiple
insurance benefits in their application to specific patients. The Office Coordinator must complete the MSP Process for Medicare patients.

o The Office Coordinator will be responsible verifying copayment amount and collection of copayment at time of service.

o The Office Coordinator works closely with Provider billing to assure compliance and maximum reimbursement.

o The Office Coordinator will manage the maintenance of medical records, chart filing and the office's medical chart system.

o The Office Coordinator will assist in, and perform diverse tasks required to maintain an efficient and organized office.

o Other duties as assigned

o The Coordinator exhibits leadership skills in communication, team building, process improvement, development of responsibility through delegation of activity, and promoting office efficiencies.

o Demonstrates skills in communication and prioritizing assignments.

o Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain a collaborative working relationship with all system departments, the medical staff and other health care professionals at Thompson Health.

o The office coordinator exhibits time management skills, keyboarding skills and multi-tasking abilities to assure business components of the practice are maintained at an efficient and effective level.

o Makes every effort to satisfy the needs of every customer in a friendly, service-oriented manner.

o The office coordinator has extensive knowledge of health care and understands the complex insurance benefits of multiple carriers and how they apply to the specific patient.

o Lives the CARES values at all time.



Requirements
Qualifications:

o Secretarial experience required.

o Medical background is required.

o Computer knowledge and skills including but not limited to Microsoft Word required.

o Office Coordinator experiences preferred.


Education:

o High School Diploma or GED required.

o Associates Degree preferred.

o Medical terminology required.

o ICD-9/CPT coding experience preferred.


Experience:

o 2 to 3 years of previous secretary/clerical medical office experience required.

o 2 to 3 years as office coordinator experience preferred.
